Oftentimes, when you feel stagnant, you are really growing. Isn't that ironic? You are actually moving forward, though you seem to be standing still. It is during these trying times when God is developing your patience and faith in Him.

He wants you to learn to trust Him, even when you seem to be stuck in the same predicament. I know it can be quite frustrating, but remain encouraged during this season. It reminds me of a recent flight I took. Initially, everything seemed to be on course. The plane arrived on time. We boarded. We hopped on the runway. And . . . just sat . . . and sat, for an hour and a half.

As you might imagine, the tension and irritability on the plane was palpable. I mean, people were seething. Meetings were being missed. Appointments were being canceled. Surely, I wasn't thrilled either. After all, I was missing the graduation of one of my business colleagues, who was receiving their MBA that day. Needless to say, I thought I would be enjoying the commencement ceremony, taking pictures and cheering! Instead, I was stuck on a straight-through flight . . . to nowhere.

Many folks were cussing and fussing. Babies were crying. Moms were yelling. I was getting sick from the fumes and humid atmosphere. Still, our displeasure did nothing to change our situation. We were stuck in that position until further notice, whether we liked it or not. We simply didn't have clearance to move.

You may be wondering, "Why were we standing still on the runway?" Well, there was a storm overhead and the route we were originally going to take was now unsafe. Many planes were being re-routed, which threw off the schedule. Thus, our pilot had to sit and wait for directions from the Air Traffic Controller.

Certainly, we wanted to be airborne. We wanted to get to our destinations on schedule. But, our plane had to be held up, for our protection.

Similarly, in your life, you may want things to take off right away in your ministry, business, career, finances, and personal life. But God is saying, not yet. You don't have clearance to move. Even though you can't see it, there's some danger up ahead. He's trying to protect you.

I know you're frustrated

with being in the same predicament. You can't understand why your progress has come to a screeching halt. I have the answer. God is taking care of some things on your behalf. He's fighting some battles for you. He's averting some things that could potentially be detrimental.

Just wait on Him. God, The Air Traffic Controller, will give you clearance when the time is right. Not a moment sooner. Don't get in a hurry. Otherwise, you'll run into some turbulence you can't handle. If you don't heed God's voice, you'll be caught off guard by the trap and snare of the enemy.

You don't want that, do you?

I know your flight might be delayed, but you know the saying, "Delay is not denial." I don't know where you are right now. You might be at home, on campus, at work . . . but wherever you are, I want you to know, you are destined to soar. You will fly. You will reach new levels of productivity and prosperity.

It's not an accident that you're reading this today. God wants you to rest in His word. Trust in His promise. Don't waver. Don't stumble. Rather, remain steadfast in your faith, knowing that He is faithful.

I'll leave this scripture with you, "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV).
